1. Who we are
Digital Academy is an online learning portal operated by Techie Gurus (“we”, “us”, “our”). It provides cyber safety education, designed especially for older Australians.
2. Grant acknowledgement
This Cyber Security Awareness Support for Vulnerable Groups grant activity received grant funding from the Australian Government.
Important: Grant funding helps support this activity, but it does not mean the Australian Government endorses Techie Gurus or Digital Academy, or is responsible for the portal or your use of it.
3. What this portal is (and isn’t)
Digital Academy provides general education only. It does not provide:
personal financial advice
- legal advice
- real-time cyber incident response
- emergency services
Cyber threats change quickly. We aim to keep content up to date, but we cannot guarantee it will always reflect the latest scam techniques.
4. If you need urgent help
If you believe you are being scammed or hacked, act quickly:
- contact your bank (if money or card details may be involved)
- report through official channels such as cyber.gov.au/report (as referenced in our training materials).
5. Eligibility and acceptable use
You can use Digital Academy if you are 18+, or if a carer/family member is helping you.
You agree not to:
- hack, disrupt, or overload the website
- upload malware or harmful links
- use the portal to run scams, impersonate others, or harass people
- misuse quizzes, forums, comments, or contact forms (if enabled)
6. Accounts, enrolment and security
Some content may require you to create an account and enrol in a course.
You agree to:
- provide accurate details
- keep your login details private
- tell us if you think your account has been accessed without permission
We may suspend or remove accounts that breach these Terms.
7. Content and intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, all Digital Academy content (videos, lessons, slides, downloads, quizzes, text, branding) is owned by or licensed to Techie Gurus.
You may:
- view and download materials for personal, non-commercial use
You may not:
- copy, re-publish, sell, or distribute content to others (including as part of paid training)
- remove branding, copyright notices, or acknowledgements
8. References to third-party resources (including Government campaigns)
We may refer to or link to helpful third-party resources (for example, public cyber awareness guidance). The “Act Now, Stay Secure” stakeholder materials describe the campaign and provide shareable resources.
We are not responsible for third-party websites or their content, and links do not mean we control or operate those services.
9. Privacy
Your personal information is handled under our Privacy Policy. We do not sell personal information.
10. Service availability and changes
We may update, improve, or change the portal at any time (including course content, features, or availability). We may also temporarily take the site offline for maintenance.
11. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law:
- The portal is provided “as is”
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, or that the portal will be error-free
- You are responsible for your own decisions and actions online
12. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Techie Gurus will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the portal.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our liability is limited to the minimum amount required by law.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Australia.
